SPECIALIST joinery & kitchen company, Haroys are delighted to sponsor a local pupil to go on an adventure of a lifetime – to Ecuador.
James Lovell, 14 year old student from Glenmoor and Winton Academy is raising funds for his 4 week life-changing trip to the Equatorial rain forest. Organized by Camp International who are currently working on 103 initiatives worldwide to support rural communities, protect wildlife and preserve fragile ecosystems, James is hoping to raise £4,240 in sponsorship.
James said: “I think this will be a great adventure as I do struggle at school with verbal dyspraxia and find talking to the general public very difficult, but with the help and support of my mum and dad and some generous sponsors, I am hoping to overcome my shyness and build my confidence for the future.
“I am going to fundraise in as many ways as possible with table top sales, Beetle Drive, Bingo nights, car washes and boot sales. I have already to raised £45.00 by doing a table top sale at the Salvation Army” he added.
Camp International’s initiatives range from housing and welfare to improving water and food security, healthcare and sanitation to education and training, wildlife conservation and environmental protection along with helping to develop sustainable livelihoods. All these projects are real, grassroots initiatives developed in partnership with local communities to tackle some of the day to day issues they are facing.
Haroys are sponsoring James’ T-shirt which he will be wearing to all his fundraising events over the next 16 months. He’ll be emailing photos of these activates to the local and community newspapers in the hope that if the photos are published the sponsor will receive additional media advertising.
James is appealing to everyone, “I would be really grateful for your support in my fundraising whether it would be a raffle prize, a donation or as a sponsor.”
Kenny Woodhead from Haroys said: “James is a very inspirational lad and we are very happy to help him in quest to better himself and the community in Ecuador. It’s a great adventure and we wish him all the best for 2020.
